KCCA FC returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, cruising past UPDF 3-0 on Tuesday evening at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, to climb to second place on the Uganda Premier League table, level on points with leaders and defending champions Vipers SC.

Sammy Ssebadduka was the star of the night, striking in the 11th and 51st minutes, while midfielder Joel Sserunjogi added a third from the penalty spot in the 30th minute and substitute Alpha Ssali to seal a convincing victory for the Kasasiro Boys.

The result came as a timely boost for KCCA, who were under pressure following a difficult run that saw them lose 2-0 away to Police FC before settling for a goalless draw against Maroons.

Tuesday’s win eased the strain on co-coaches Brian Ssenyondo and Jackson Magera and reignited the club’s title push.

KCCA dominated proceedings from the opening whistle to the final hooter, dictating play and creating a host of chances. Ivan Ahimbisibwe and Shafik Kwikiriza were guilty of spurning several opportunities that could have made the scoreline even more emphatic.

For UPDF, the defeat compounded their struggles, marking a third straight loss. The army side slipped to 15th place on the 16-team table with just 11 points from 14 matches, firmly rooted in the relegation zone.

Attention now shifts to the summit clash later under the floodlights, where in-form Vipers SC are scheduled to face third-placed Police FC, who also sit on 27 points, in a mouth-watering top-of-the-table encounter.
