Sport-S Women’s Volleyball Club is riding high after capturing their first-ever National Volleyball League title over the weekend in a thrilling five-set victory over KCB-Nkumba.

The team staged a dramatic comeback to win 3-2 (23–25, 23–25, 25–22, 25–21, 15–13), showcasing remarkable resilience and determination.

“It took a lot for us to finally win,” said Sport-S Women’s head coach Malik Ddamulira. “We needed resilience—it wasn’t an easy challenge. But we kept believing, and this win proves that in sport, you can chase and catch up.”

After trailing by two sets and facing what seemed like an inevitable defeat, Sport-S turned the tide in the third and fourth sets, refusing to give in. In the decisive fifth, they held their nerve to complete a stunning turnaround.

This victory is a culmination of years of hard work and persistence from the club's backroom staff, who remained committed to the long-term vision despite previous disappointments.

“This was our biggest target: to win our first piece of silverware,” Ddamulira reflected. “A few years ago, after falling short in the playoffs, we changed our strategy. We began recruiting young talent from high schools and universities, and now that investment has paid off.”

The future looks bright for this emerging powerhouse. If the current squad stays together, they could dominate the women’s game for years to come. But for now, they are fully savoring the joy of their maiden title.

Meanwhile, the Sport-S Men’s team continued their dominance by clinching a record seventh league title, breaking the tie with rivals Nemostars. They claimed their third consecutive championship, underscoring their status as a volleyball dynasty.
