The 2024 schools cricket week for girls will be happening in Soroti city for the second consecutive year, making it an enormous moment for the cricket community.

St. Mary’s Girls’ School in Soroti will play host to the one week championship slated for May 4-11.

Last year, Soroti Cricket Academy etched its name in history by hosting the Girls Schools Cricket Week outside Kampala for the first time, with the gripping finale witnessing Olila High School clinching victory against Light Senior Secondary School, setting a remarkable benchmark for future tournaments.

On Monday the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) development manager Davis Turina said: “Teso is granted another chance of hosting the games following the excellent performance Teso teams showcased in last year’s competitions.”

He said as some of the measures aimed at nurturing diversity and inclusivity within the tournament in the country, UCA has expanded the number of participating schools from 14 to 16, with approximately 59 games scheduled to be played.

Soroti academy chairman Felix Musana expressed gratitude to UCA for giving them another chance to stage the event.

“Building on last year’s accomplishments, we are steadfast in our commitment to deliver an even more exceptional experience,” remarked Musana
