The team consists of four male athletes led by Tendo Mukalazi, Jesse Ssengonzi, Atuhaire Ambala, and Tendo Kaumi.

The female athletes on the team include Tera Naluwooza and Gloria Muzito who are under the stewardship of Joseph Kaboggoza the team coach.

The Uganda Swimming Federation (USF) announced the team on Wednesday.

Kaboggoza believes the athletes on the team are geared up for the task with the Olympic qualification at the back of their minds.

Kaboggoza also confirmed that his side will put up a master class performance on the Accra test after taking part in the recently concluded World Aquatics championships in Doha last month.

“These athletes put up a show in Doha last month but are yearning to dominate the African games swimming discipline.”

He, however, noted that the team will miss out on Kirabo Namutebi who didn’t make it due to school engagements that coincided with the games.

“We are really sad that Namutebi is not on the team but also acknowledge her dedication to the sport always selflessly availing herself, joining university she couldn’t make it to the games due to her school schedule being tight.”
