The former president of the Uganda Karate Federation, Haruna Sentumbuwe has handed over the tools of power to the newly elected president, Junior Ebong Cantong.

The handover ceremony took place at Little Ritz Restaurant at UMA Showgrounds, Lugogo on Sunday.

Speaking at the media after the function, Catong said the new administration will focus on reviving the sport across the country.

“Karate was voted the most watched and most organised game at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Uganda is missing out of the picture. We have missed out on many international engagements including the Commonwealth Games, the Olympics, the All- Africa Games, and world championships because of selfish leaders. We have to take action as the new leadership,” Cantong said.

An elite Karate athlete, Cantong was unanimously elected the president of the Uganda Karate Federation (UKF) replacing Sentumbwe, who had led the sport for the last thirty years.

The new administration includes Ebong Junior Cantong as president, Hamida Nabunje and Jamil Miiro as first and second vice presidents, Martin Emoku as general secretary, Annet Apia as treasure, James Opio as technical director, John Odyek as disciplinary head, Moses Kiwanuka as special advisor and Isa Ofubo as the mobilizer.
