Three-time national champion Ronald Sebuguzi has declared his intent to clinch victory in the second round of the National Sprint Championship, set for Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Victoria Race Track in Garuga.

Speaking at a media briefing held at Arthur Blick Garage on Rubaga Road, Sebuguzi boldly proclaimed: “This sprint is part of the championship, and I want to beat all my rivals—Duncan, Mubiru, Omar Mayanja, and Lwakataka, to prove I’m the undisputed champion.”

This year’s edition carries a solemn tone as the motorsport fraternity mourns the passing of young rider Mary Nalwanga, who tragically lost her life during training last Saturday. Event manager Omar Mayanja confirmed that a lap of honor, moment of silence, and a Fair Play award will be held in her memory. “We are grieving with Nalwanga’s family. We’ll honor her with heartfelt gestures on race day,” Mayanja said.

Scrutineering will take place on Saturday at Shell, Kampala, ahead of Sunday’s main event featuring three heats per class followed by the rally sprint.

Heightened safety protocols will be enforced before, during, and after the competition. A fully equipped ambulance with trained medical staff will be stationed at the venue, with a designated evacuation route and regular watering of the track for visibility. The Garuga track itself has undergone renovations, and riders can expect an upgraded racing experience.

Clerk of the course Enock Olinga expressed gratitude to organizers for improving both the motocross and rally tracks.

The event is backed by sponsors including Shell, Worldwide Movers, Mountain Dew, Rose Foam, and Fire Safety Appliances.

In the 2WD category, the rivalry between Watendwa Samuel and Ibrahim "Pasuwa" Lubega is set to reignite. Meanwhile, Subaru drivers have thrown down the gauntlet against competitors in Evos and protos. “My goal is to beat all these so-called top racers driving Evos and protos—including Sebuguzi and Mayanja. Come ready for the showdown… but you’ll fall,” declared Subaru driver Kalule Peter.
