The National Motocross Championship continues this Sunday, March 8, with riders set to battle it out in a high-stakes second round at the renowned Kalisizo track.
With forecasts predicting muddy terrain, competitors have ramped up their preparations for what promises to be a physically demanding and technically challenging showdown.
85cc Class in the spotlight
All eyes will be on the electric 85cc category, where Ethan Musede, Jonathan Katende, and Isaac Mitima are set to renew their rivalry following a gripping season opener in Garuga.
Katende claimed victory in the opening round, edging Musede into second place in one of the most hotly contested races of the day.
"The 85cc class is one of the most exciting categories we have. Fans will love it," said George Semakula, a rider parent.
Musede’s debut in the 85cc category turned heads after the youngster finished second, despite having trained for less than an hour on his brand-new Husqvarna, which arrived just a day before the Garuga event.
"Had he not been block-passed, he could have given Jonathan a run for his money in round one," noted Paul Musede.
Key battles
The 125cc division will see Miguel Katende renew his duel with Jerom Mubiru. Meanwhile, the MX2 class could open up further in the absence of Fortune Sentamu, potentially favoring Gift Sebuguzi.
In the WMX category, Jamaira Makumbi is determined to challenge her experienced rival Swanswi Sambo, as female riders compete across age divisions in the championship.
Additional action will feature the MX50cc, MX65cc, MX Masters, and Veterans classes.
With rivalries heating up and conditions set to test every rider, Kalisizo promises a thrilling second chapter in this year’s championship.
