Uganda’s sole representative in the Sunshine Tour events in South Africa Ronald Rugumayo continued with his perfect run of form when he made the cut in his fourth event of the 2025-26 season.

Rugumayo carded 1-over 289 in the Limpopo Championship at the Euphoria Golf & Lifestyle Estate on Sunday to make the cut in back-to-back events following earlier successes in the Vodacom Origins of Golf at the Devonvale Golf and Wine Estate course, last month which he followed with an 11th-place finish in the Betway Big Easy Blu Label Unlimited Invitational 4 at the Reading Country Club in Alberton.

There is no rest yet for the MTN and Johnnie Walker-sponsored player who now heads to the sh388m Fortress Invitational Championship at the Glendower Golf Club in Gauteng October 16-19.

Rugumayo prepared for the Sunshine Tour with strong performances in local and regional events, and ultimately succeeded when he returned south.

Rugumayo’s Manager Peter Mujuni says he has to continue the grind to even make more in roads down south.

“That is where he is destined to be playing because the more, he plays regularly there the more he will get better and also improve his ranking. If all goes well, we want him to also try his luck in the MENA Tour but there is also a tour in India where there is good prize money, so he has to play in those events if he wants to make it to the top,” Mujuni stated.

His never say die attitude might see him make great strides in the Sunshine Tour this season. The Sunshine Tour is a series of professional golf tournaments in South Africa, relaunched in 2000. The tour represents the highest level of competition for male professional golfers in the region. The tour is primarily based in South Africa, with additional events held in Zimbabwe.
