Pirates 25 Heathen 19 (Heathens win 42-31 on aggregate)
The Stanbic Black Pirates booked their place in the Nile Special Rugby Premiership final after a hard-fought 25-19 victory over the Heathens at Kings Park on Saturday.
The Pirates stormed out of the gates with Jeremiah Okello crossing for an early try, complemented by William Nkore's penalty to establish a 10-0 halftime lead.
The Heathens responded after the break through a penalty try and Aaron Ofoyrwoth's score to briefly take a 14-10 advantage.
However, the Pirates demonstrated championship composure with decisive tries from Sidney Gongodyo and Timothy Kisiga, while Ivan Magomu's late penalty sealed the result at 25-14. The Heathens managed a consolation try, but the damage was already done.
"We panicked in crucial moments when we needed cool heads," admitted Heathens captain Norbert Okeny.
Pirates skipper Frank Kidega praised his team's disciplined approach: "We controlled territory well, defended stoutly, and executed our game plan effectively."
The Pirates will enjoy home advantage again when they host the Premiership final next weekend at Kings Park, looking to build on last season's momentum.
