Semi-final Playoff

Friday

KOBs v Hippos 4pm (KOBs leads 25-22 on aggregate)

The Jinja Hippos must overcome a three-point deficit when they take on KCB KOBs in Friday's crucial semifinal second leg at Legends.

The Hippos suffered a psychological blow in the first encounter, conceding a late try to Mark Osuna that handed KOBs a narrow 25-22 victory and valuable advantage heading home.

Despite the setback, Hippos coach Edmond Quaresma remains confident.

"We dominated large periods of the first leg but couldn't sustain our pressure," he admitted. "There was some complacency after halftime, but we've addressed those issues. The belief remains strong that we can go to Kampala and win."

KOBs captain Derrick Tukwasibwe acknowledged the challenge ahead: "The Hippos have improved tremendously this season. Our quarterfinal escape and last-minute semifinal win prove their quality. We can't afford another slow start - this is a finals berth at stake."

The visitors will rely on their resilient performances in Jinja this season, having twice defeated the Hippos on their home turf. However, KOBs' remarkable comeback from 10 points down in the quarterfinals demonstrates their championship mentality.

With both teams desperate for a finals appearance, the match promises intense physicality and tactical discipline.

The Hippos must convert their territorial dominance into points, while KOBs will aim to capitalize on any complacency to book their place in the championship decider.
