The Uganda national Rugby Sevens men's team, the Rugby Cranes has one hand on gold in the ongoing Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.

Uganda raised hopes on Wednesday after winning all their two games on day two.

Uganda came from behind to beat Burkina Faso 24-14 despite the resistance from the West African side.

A brace from Norbert Okeny, Denis Etwau, and Aaron Ofoyrwoth a try each gave Uganda a crucial win.

In the second game, the hosts Ghana checked Uganda's strength giving them only 22-5.

Okeny rioted again with two trys one each from Philip Wokorach and skipper Ian Munyani.

Munyani expects a hard sweet ending on day today.

"We are currently seeing gold, but it has to be mined in a hard sweet way," Munyani said.

Uganda faces Benin before closing the games in Gold Coast with rivals Kenya in the evening.

Uganda comfortably sits on top of the table with 12 points.

In the Women's category, the Lady Rugby Cranes will also have a medal if not gold after winning all their two games on day one.

Uganda thumped Tunisia 37-7 before silencing the hosts Ghana with a 50-7 beating.

Grace Nabaggala, Peace Lekuru, and Lydia Namabiro were the top performers on day one.

"According to our plans, we completed day one successfully, and we want to finish day two on high." Lady Rugby Cranes 7s captain Peace Lekuru stated.

Today, Uganda starts with Nigeria before closing the games with Madagascar in the evening.

Uganda currently stands on top of the table with six points.

Without taking chances, Uganda needs to win the two games to extend Uganda's gold tally at the games.

With both teams now assured of a medal from the games, the main sponsors Nile Special are thrilled with the two team's improvement.

"As Nile Special, we are thrilled by the continued improvement of both teams, not only in the African Games but generally.

The boys finished 6th in the HSBC Challenger in Montevideo, and the girls maintained 4th place.

So, the boys winning the first four games in Accra, and the girls their first two is a testament to both teams' improvement." Nile Breweries head of marketing Amou Majok explained.

The sport of rugby made its historic first appearance in the games since its inception in 1965.
