Division 1

Avengers 127 Damani 131/4 (Damani win by six wickets)

Challengers 336/6 Tigers 168 (Challengers win by 168 runs)

Division 2

Karago 112 Tornado 113/4 (Tornado win by six wickets)

Finally an Aziz Damani game. And, naturally, a victory.

Five weeks into the national cricket topflight season, Damani got their campaign underway and did so with typically comfortable consequences, as they bettered the Avengers by six wickets at Entebbe.

Usual suspect Ronak Patel was Damani’s match-winner with a match-best knock of 41 runs, while Simon Ssesazi and Dinesh Nakrani added 21 apiece. Alpesh Ramjani and Ghulam Udin scored 17 and 14 runs respectively for the four-time champions, who restricted the Avengers to 127 all out in 30 overs, with Ramjani claiming figures of 4/14 in six overs.

Hamza Rajput, Parth Shah and Mehul Makwana put up 37, 26 and 11 runs respectively for the Avengers, but those contributions would not be enough to propel their side to a position capable of threatening a team of Damani’s calibre.

A much better effort would have been required to stretch the Avengers’ unbeaten start to the season to three wins but just like the batting, the bowling never troubled Damani, who climbed to sixth with the triumph.

Second on the table are the Challengers, thanks to their imposing 168-run win over the Kutchi Tigers. Wassim Butt clobbered 112 of 97 for the Challengers, who had Frank Akankwasa, Aneef Mohammed and Zephaniah Arinaitwe all score half-centuries.

Ankit Patel led Kutchi with 57 runs while Dhansuk Jeshani added 38. Frank Akankwasa took 4/31 in 5.1 overs.
