The National Motocross Championship returns to Busiika on Sunday, November 6, 2022, after two years of wrangling.
The Motorcycling Association (MAU) and the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda- FMU in August 2022 decided to bury their hatchet and rebuild the sport.
Over eighty racers are expected in Busiika for the final round of that Mountain Dew National Motocross Championship at the Uganda Motocross Arena.

Alestair Blick (294 points) in the MX1, Alestair Blick (294 points), in MX2, Kylan Wekesa (231), In the MX125, Milton Akena Obote, in the 85cc Jerome Mubiru (318), Miguel Katende (350) and the 50cc class, Filbert Muwonge (344) have already clinched the national titles.
Abigail Muwanguzi and Abigail Katende will battle it for the title as the former (279) leads with three points.
Whereas the titles in the six categories are decided, there is the rivalry between racers that makes Sunday’s event a thriller and mouthwatering.
Larry Sekamwa negotiate a corner in style during the 50cc class
In the 50-cc class, Jude Kyle Musedde will be out to avenge the Filbert Muwonge defeat in Kasanje in the sixth round last month.
Muwonge, son of two-time national rally champion Suzan Muwonge beat Musedde in the three heats, but Musedde attributed that to the track which he was not familiar with because he had not had practice on the Kasanje track.
Thereafter, in the 50cc battle, the rivalry between Larry Sekamwa, Haruna Mubiru, and the Katende brothers Miguel and Jonathan in the 65cc will be renewed.
In Kasanje, Miguel blocked Mubiru intentionally for his brother to overtake Mubiru which did, and their rivalry now returns in Busiika. However, it will be fireworks in the 85cc Pascal Kasozi, Mubarak Senoga, Jerome Mubiru, and Ron Young face-off in what promises to be a grueling race.
Racing on a soft sandy track, the speeds are likely to reduce because of its technical nature, but it will test the fitness of racers since you have to go full throttle.
Another mouth-watering race will be in the combined MX125cc, MX1and MX2 classes.
In Kasanje, Waleed Omar beat Kylan Wekesa in a highly competitive race and Wekesa will be out to prove his supremacy on the track which makes it a race to watch.
The event will also work as a precursor to the second edition of the Armed Forces Motocross Challenge later.
