Uganda’s rising football powerhouse, Prostat Academy, is making headlines at the Dana Cup in Hjørring, Denmark, thanks to a dazzling run by their Under-11 team in one of the world’s most prestigious youth football tournaments.

The competition, which kicked off on July 21, features over 1,100 teams from 45 nations, offering a vibrant platform for young talent to compete and connect. And shine they have—especially Prostat.

Before departure, team director Richard Mugerwa vowed that Prostat would do Uganda proud, and that promise is being fulfilled in electrifying fashion.

The Under-11 side swept through the group stages with dominant wins, including an 8–2 victory over Denmark’s Bagterp IF 3, a stunning 14–0 demolition of Norway’s Hinna IL-Fotball, and a composed 3–1 win over Tars/Ugilt IF. Despite a 7–3 loss to Malta’s Hamrun Spartans, their earlier triumphs secured them a place in the Round of 16.

On Thursday afternoon, Prostat outclassed Poland’s Zak Zbiczno 6–4 in a dramatic knockout showdown, then dispatched Denmark’s FC Duevej 4–2 to secure a semifinal spot later that evening. All eyes are now on the young Ugandan side as they edge closer to a potential appearance in the final.

Leading the team is star striker and captain Prince Jjunju, who has lit up the tournament with 16 goals and is powering Prostat’s push for glory. Meanwhile, the Academy’s Under-14 squad offered flashes of brilliance—most notably a 6–0 rout of Norway’s Kongsberg—but failed to advance beyond the group stage after early defeats.

The semifinals will be played on Friday, July 25, with the grand finale and award ceremony scheduled for Saturday, July 26. With medals and trophies on the line, Prostat Academy may be on the verge of writing a new chapter in Uganda’s youth football history. The triumphant young stars are expected to return to a hero’s welcome on Monday afternoon.
