Pirates bounced back from their loss to Heathens with a 24-20 victory over Kobs at Kings Park Arena.

The defending champions started the match with desire and were quick off the blocks scoring two early tries courtesy of Haruna Muhammad and Sydney Gongodyo.

Kobs were holding on for dear life but quickly had something to fight for when Rasul Abiriga scored a penalty.

The penalty took the score to 12-3 but the Kobs errors kept coming.Calvin Gizamba was very adventurous and found his range with his long probing kicks into Pirates territory.

The visitors were trying to find something to latch onto when Arnold Atukunda added to their misery with another try but they didn't make the conversion taking the score to 17-3.

With the half winding down, there was a shift in momentum for the away side who scored their first try thanks to Saul Kivumbi.

Abiriga converted and scored a penalty two minutes later keeping the momentum with Kobs and reducing the deficit to 17-13 at half time.

Pirates scrum half Conrad Wanyama decried the weak moments but was grateful the team stayed humble.

"Humility is very key whether you are winning  or losing.

Whatever Kobs threw at us we took it in. Just like a cushion we absorbed it and threw it back at them with doubled momentum, " he stated.

In the second half Kobs tried to push for the try that would wheel them past Pirates but Pirates resisted hard. Both teams had chances to score penalties and they failed to split the posts.

In the 68th  minute ,Atukunda pushed Pirates ahead with another try and with Ivan Magomu's conversion Pirates looked home and dry.

Kobs scored a late try through Alhaji Manano but they were not good enough to secure victory as they run out of time.
