KCB Kobs have qualified for the Nile Special Rugby Championship semifinals after thumping Plascon Mongers 51-16 in the return leg.

Kobs secured a place in the semifinal on aggregate 68-33 after the first leg ended 17-13 in favour of the Kobs.

Kobs season captain Derrick Tukwasibwe said, "We struggled at the start of the season, but later picked up.”

Kobs face Platinum Heathens in the semifinal, a team that has condemned them to several losses in the previous years.

“It is true, our results against Heathens have not been appealing, but we are hoping for better results in the end,” Tukwasibwe added.

Heathens have qualified for the semifinal after ejecting Walukuba Barbarians on aggregate 55-16.

Heathens have won the return leg in Jinja 28-16 after winning the first leg at Kyadondo 27-0.

For Plascon Mongers, they are proud of the journey they have walked in the championship after finishing fifth in the regular season.

“We are proud of the journey we have made in this league, but it has been our belief and the support of the Entebbe fans,” Mongers captain Lauren Kalule said after the game.

Elsewhere, Stanbic Black Pirates survived Rhinos' scare after they picked up from 21-0 down in the first half to win 30-27.

On aggregate, the scoreboard read 40-34.

At Kyadondo, Toyota Buffaloes beat Jinja Hippos 12-5 on a muddy pitch.

However, the results could not help Buffaloes progress to the semifinal after they lost miserably in the first leg 40-21.

On aggregate, the Hippos have progressed with a 45-33 score and they will face the Pirates in the semifinal.

The semi-finals are set for next weekend.
