Pamela Tumusiime shot 66 nett to win the October MTN Tees Golf Tournament at Entebbe Club on Saturday.
Playing off handicap 25, Tumusiime beat 184 players to the top prize to also move in third position in the Order of Merit (OoM) standings on 725nett and 572nett, respectively, from her best 8 rounds since January.
This was her second-best score in the ten rounds since she scored 69 in May, bringing her closer to the OoM leaders; the defending champion Esther Aganyira on 561nett and leader Peace Hellen, who is on 537nett from her best 8 rounds.
With just 35 points separating Tumusiime and the leader, and with two rounds left, she can displace any of the two ahead of her with two more outstanding displays to earn the bragging rights at the end of the season.
In the men’s division, despite missing last month’s action Ronald Gayiya maintained top spot in OoM after retuning 67, his second-best score in the nine rounds he has so featured in.
Gayiya, who pays off handicap 18, is just six strokes ahead of Bryan Wakwale in second, who is on 563 nett from his best 8 rounds.
Isaac Kyoyagala (573) and Musa Baguma (577) also remain within reach of the top spot with two rounds of top play.
The other podium finishers in the Saturday competition included Samson Agamile (69nett) and Lino Anguzu (73) in the men’s Group A as well as Arthur Arinaitwe and Gayiya in Group B.
Richard Mucunguzi was the best senior with 70 net, while Bob Drani was the best guest player with 66nett.
