All eyes will be on tactician Oliver Mbekeka as she leads Lugazi FC in her debut as interim head coach during their Uganda Premier League encounter against Express FC on Tuesday under the floodlights at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo.
Mbekeka, formerly the assistant coach, stepped into this role following the dismissal of head coach Sadiq Sempigi last Friday.
Her appointment marks a significant career milestone and sets a historic precedent as she becomes the first female coach to lead a men’s team in a Uganda Premier League match.

Lugazi has struggled in their debut season, earning only two points from five matches. Their most recent game ended in a 1-1 draw against fellow newcomers Mbale Heroes, where they scored their first goal of the campaign through Derick Mwanje.
On the other hand, Express FC, seven-time league champions, will be eager to bounce back after a frustrating 2-2 draw against Police FC in Kavumba in their last outing.

Express has been solid at home this season, winning two of their three matches and drawing the other. Forward Sam Ssenyonjo is in top form, having scored four goals in five matches, while midfielders Geoffrey Gagganga and Saidi Kyeyune have been outstanding in controlling the midfield.
Express currently sits fifth on the table with eight points, while Lugazi is at the bottom with just two points. Mbekeka, therefore, has a tough job ahead to guide her team to a much-needed first win of the season.
