Namuwongo v COSPN

Patriots v Urunani

Peter Obleng dropped a game-high 22 points, and the Namuwongo Blazers demolished Ushindzi de Ouani 109-45 to get their BAL qualification campaign off the ground yesterday in Hoima.

Namuwongo scored 23 more points in the paint than their opponents managed the entire game, underlining the gulf in class between the two teams.

Tougher games will come, but this was an occasion for the Blazers to clear their throats ahead of a qualification journey that should easily pass the first hurdle.

The Blazers were up 31-14 in the first quarter, with the second quarter ending with an identical score. Namuwongo’s superior talent was too much for Ushindzi. Makhtar Gueye dropped 20, NBL Finals MVP Franck Nyembo contributed 18, Jonathan Jordan 11, and Richard Pack 10.

Today, the Blazers take on COSPN, who were dismantled 93-69 by Urunani yesterday. The national champions need to finish in the top two to progress to the final qualification phase, with a victory against COSPN almost a foregone conclusion.

Namuwongo’s final two opponents—Patriots and Urunani—face each other earlier today.
