NIC 53 KCCA 38

KCCA’s bid for the East Africa Club Netball Championship came to a decisive end on Tuesday, as defending champions NIC dominated the final with a commanding 53–38 victory at the New Amaan Indoor Stadium in Zanzibar.

The win marked NIC’s 23rd title in the tournament and their third since the competition resumed in 2022—a testament to their enduring legacy and tactical superiority.

“We had clear plans and strategies focused on strong defense and controlling the midfield. Our goal was to prevent their balls from entering the shooting circle,” said NIC head coach Rashid Mubiru. “The girls played with great morale, and the competitive nature of our group stage matches helped sharpen our performance.”

NIC controlled all four quarters of the fast-paced final, showcasing exceptional ball movement and cohesion. Midcourt play was especially dominant, led by standout performances from centre Margaret Baagala and wing attack Fildauce Namulema, who consistently outclassed their opponents.

While it was a collective team effort, shooter Sera Zam stood out. Chosen to lead the attack, her composure and experience in front of goal proved crucial. Her efficiency and accuracy rewarded the coaches’ trust and capped off a near-flawless tournament campaign for NIC.
