A steep learning curve awaits the National Basketball League (NBL) Management Committee, and the decision to postpone the start of the 2025 season is early evidence.

The newly-formed NBL Management Committee pushed the start of the league to March 21, a week back from the original date, due to “unavoidable reasons," with a new games’ schedule now being prepared for official release.

The committee is working with sport governing body FUBA on the new schedule, for which the federation remains responsible.

As for the management of the NBL, FUBA has handed over responsibility to the six-man committee that will be led by Fredricks Owora.

The new era of semi-autonomy has had a mixed response, with NBL clubs reluctant, unsure, or open to the change.
