The Mountain Dew National Motocross Championship is set to climax in spectacular fashion this Sunday, with the eighth and final round revving up at The Extreme Adventure Park in Busiika.

Returning to the iconic venue for the first time since June 2024—after a 17-month hiatus, the championship promises an adrenaline-charged day of racing, roaring engines, and passionate fans, reigniting the spirit of competition that defines Uganda’s premier motocross event.

The championship finale will feature fierce showdowns in four hotly contested categories: MX 50cc Junior, MX 65cc, MX1, and MX Veterans. In the MX 50cc Junior class, Ronieta Ssebuguzi leads with 303 points, but Harvey Kiggundu is just six points behind, setting up a dramatic title decider. The MX 65cc category is equally intense, with Ethan Musede holding a narrow five-point lead over Hayden Kaliisa, who himself is just five points ahead of Jaimaira Makumbi. The standings—282 for Musede, 277 for Kaliisa, and 248 for Makumbi—promise a nail-biting finish.

In the MX1 class, Ashim Sserwadda sits atop the leaderboard with 347 points, but Ismail Mukiibi remains in contention with 330 points. Meanwhile, the MX Veterans category sees Rogers Ssebunnya leading with 329 points, closely followed by John Baptist Achai with 320.

While these categories remain undecided, twelve riders have already secured their championships in other divisions. During the penultimate round held in Omito Village, Lira City, in September, several competitors sealed their titles. Ronieta Ssebuguzi triumphed in the 50cc Junior Ladies’ category with 360 points.

Abigail Katende dominated both the 50cc Senior and 50cc Senior Ladies’ categories, scoring 356 and 363 points respectively. Jaimaira Makumbi claimed the MX 65cc Ladies’ title with 380 points, while Miguel Katende topped the MX 85cc category with a perfect 420 points. Rahma Kimera Nakacwa won the MX 85cc Ladies’ title, and Gift Ssebuguzi secured the MX125cc championship with 400 points.

Shamirah Kateete emerged victorious in the MX125cc Ladies’ category with 180 points. Habib Kiggungu clinched the MX2 title with 273 points, Swanswa Sambo won the MX2 Ladies’ championship with 225 points, and Arithea Nakiwala took the MX Veterans Ladies’ crown.

Adding to the excitement, Sunday’s event will feature a motorsport triple-header, with over 15 car drifters competing in Time Trial, Drag, and Drifting contests. The inaugural Super Bike MX GP will also debut, with more than 10 bikers expected to thrill fans with high-speed action.

With championship titles on the line and a packed program of motorsport spectacles, The Extreme Adventure Park in Busiika is set to deliver an unforgettable finale. Fans are in for a high-octane treat.
