The Namuwongo Blazers will be aiming for their second victory of the 2026 National Basketball League season when they face the Kampala Rockets on Saturday, February 21, at ABJA Park in Lubowa.
Blazers captain Ivan Muhweezi expressed confidence in his team’s preparation.
“We are hungry for another win and have trained hard this week. Everyone knows their role and we are determined to get the victory,” he said.
Muhweezi added that the team has focused on defence and teamwork to cut down mistakes.
“Our defence is stronger now, and we are concentrating on every detail to get back to winning ways. Of course, we respect every team in the league and the Rockets are on form, but we will face them.”
Namuwongo comes into the clash after bouncing back from an opening loss to the City Oilers with a 70–58 win over the UCU Canons at Lugogo Indoor Arena last week. The Blazers started strongly with a 9–0 run before the Canons responded. Nyembo Fataki led the way with 14 points, while Innocent Ochera added 10. Marvin Jesse Okurut was the only Canon to reach double figures.
The Blazers will be without Peter Obleng, who is away with the national team for the opening window of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers in Alexandria, Egypt.
Meanwhile, the Kampala Rockets arrive in strong form after defeating the JT Jaguars 70–52 on Wednesday at ABJA Park. Christian Ndibu dominated with 13 points and 17 rebounds, Puati Ozias Kikomba contributed 11 points and 16 rebounds, while Brian Opio added 13 points. The Rockets will be looking to extend their winning streak and mount a challenge against the defending champions.
