Mwehaire, Tushabomwe emerge winners at Entebbe Chairman’s Cup

Robbins Mwehaire and Charity Tushabomwe carded 68 and 74 net, respectively, to emerge as the best players at the Afrisafe 2026 Chairman’s Cup Golf Tournament held at Entebbe Club.
The Chairman’s Cup at Entebbe Club is a major annual multi-sport showcase featuring golf, tennis, pool and indoor games. It is also known for its unique golf challenge, which requires players to use only four clubs.
Playing off handicaps of 7 and 26 respectively, the two golfers topped a strong field of 110 players in the annual event organised on July 25, 2026, to honour outgoing Entebbe Club chairman Jacob Byamukama, who is completing his four-year tenure.
Andrew Atuhaire emerged as the best player in basketball ahead of Serwano Walusimbi, while Samson Agamile beat Paul Nuwagaba to claim the table tennis title. Albert Otete edged Harry Hakiza in chess, while Joseph Galiwango prevailed in darts.
Byamukama thanked the event sponsors for their continued support and highlighted some of the achievements registered at the club during his tenure, including the construction of two new greens, lighting of the 18th fairway and purchase of two brand-new green mowers, among others.
“We are now financially stable as a club. We are also tightening to make sure members are enjoying themselves. We have also increased membership, and we have fulfilled the promise of Entebbe ewoma,” Byamukama said.
“I want to thank you so much, members, for putting your trust in me and making sure that we deliver on our promise, and when we have requested your support and your guidance, you have given it. I want to thank the trustees of the Entebbe Club. They have been our parents. They have been guiding us very well in making sure that the club assets are used very well, but also, they have guided us on making sure that the membership is happy.”

The founding chairman of the event, Kiryowa Kiwanuka, during whose tenure the championship was started in 2008, said there was no sponsorship at the club at the time until he instituted a committee that began searching for sponsors before the event, alongside other competitions such as the Captains Putter and the Entebbe Open, which were later introduced.
“The four-club challenge interested so many people who wanted to figure out their strategy and their calmness under pressure, and Entebbe Club received a huge number of players,” Kiryowa noted.
He thanked Afrisafe for its 18-year commitment and sponsorship to the club and encouraged members to embrace their services.
“That is not sponsorship; that is partnership, and that is legacy. We thank you.”
