Mukono District is set to host the 2026 USSSA Ball Games I, with over 100 schools expected to take part in the national event. The championship will be held at Seroma Christian High School from Wednesday, April 29, to May 8.
Richard Muhumuza, the Zonal Chairperson of USSSA Mukono, said the region is honored to host such a major tournament for the first time.
“We appreciate Seroma Christian High School for accepting to host these games. This will be the first time a school in Wakiso or Mukono is hosting games with a very large number of athletes participating in eleven disciplines,” Muhumuza said.
He added that the games will have a lasting impact on the zone. “Mukono Zone comprises four districts: Buikwe, Kayunga, Buvuma, and Mukono. We are proud of Seroma for stepping up to host these national games, and as a zone, I can assure you Mukono will not remain the same.”
Security has also been prioritized. Benard Mugerwa, the Senior Superintendent of Police and District Police Commander (DPC) for Mukono, assured participants of safety.
“These activities will take place across four divisions of Mukono District, and we are ready to ensure the security of everyone. All are welcome to Mukono for these games,” Mugerwa said.
Draws for the various disciplines were conducted on Monday at GNS Plaza in Kampala.
