Mukasa steals the show in run-fest as Aziz Damani survive scare

There were five half-tons during a productive day of scoring in the Cricket Uganda Men's 50 Overs League on Sunday, but Roger Mukasa's display against Tornado Bees was easily the performance of the round. 

Mukasa clobbered an unbeaten 103 off 69 to inspire the league-leading Bees to a six-wicket win over Mukono Warriors at Lugogo, a remarkable display punctuated by the fact that the game was reduced to 20 overs aside.

Mukasa's display was as impressive as it was necessary for the Bees, who had to wait until the penultimate ball of their innings to make sure of the win. 

Fittingly, the game was iced by a Mukasa six smacked toward deep extra cover. When you feel it, you feel it, and Mukasa was in the zone for this game like he hasn't been in a long time. 

There were two other notable batting performances in this game, albeit on a lower scale than Mukasa's. Both came from the Warriors—Kalpesh Jeshani with 64 off 22 and Pet Kindoria with 52 off 36. 

Fortunate Aijuna and Brian Asaba also enjoyed significant batting performances on the day, scoring a game-best 85 and 53 runs respectively for Aboojo. However, their efforts would not be enough to save their side from a four-wicket loss to Rounders in Entebbe. Perry Wazombe was another whose outstanding batting display proved insufficient on the day, with a game-best 76 off 63 unable to prevent the Ceylon Lions from a four-wicket loss to Kutchi Tigers, whose response was built on a committee of scorers led by Nitini Jeshani's 32. 

Lions slumped to two losses in two games and are among four teams in the Gold division with no win so far. Tornado have won both their games thus far to rise to the top of the table.
