A brand-new Mitsubishi Outlander (Sport), provided by Victoria Motors and covered by GA Insurance, will be the highlight when the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series kicks off the 2026 season on March 14 at the par-71 Entebbe Club golf course.
Golfers will be hoping to match Berna Musanabera’s impressive hole-in-one from last month’s Entebbe Stanbic Matchplay Golf Qualifiers.
Musanabera won a stylish Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid from CFAO after her remarkable shot on the par-3 hole 12, taking home the sh162m prize car. It was the first hole-in-one in the tournament’s seven-year history.
Excitement for the season is growing, thanks in part to the return of the popular online trivia segment, which runs Monday to Friday before each quarterly event. The trivia tests golfers’ knowledge of the tournament and its sponsors, with winners receiving bottles of Johnnie Walker Gold Reserve during the 19th hole experience on Saturday. Katogo Captain Elly Kibuka Mukasa said preparations are well underway to make sure the season opener goes smoothly.
“We are very prepared for this Saturday. Based on the pace of online registrations, we anticipate a packed course. Our promise is to deliver a memorable day for everyone, both on and off the course. And when it comes to the 19th hole experience, our partners have truly pulled all the stops to ensure the season kicks off in style,” he said.
Prizes will be awarded to top performers in both the men’s and ladies’ categories, as well as to winners of side bets. The season starts with the ‘It’s Up to Me’ format, an individual competition making its series debut. In this format, after everyone tees off, one player in each group chooses where they will play their second shot from and decides where the rest of the group must play theirs.
Only the second-shot position is chosen. If an out-of-bounds ball is picked, those players must return to the tee for their third shot. Winners will be those with the lowest net scores at the end of the round. Annette Nakiyaga, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at I&M Bank, said the series has grown steadily and is set to reach new heights in its fourth edition.
“We’re proud to see the series start its fourth edition this weekend. It has been quite a journey, and we’re excited for what’s ahead. With the support of our partners, we believe this edition will be a success and look forward to an unforgettable season,” she said. Johnnie Walker will add to the 19th hole experience with tasty cocktails and special bottle offers.
The after-party will feature lively Caribbean-themed entertainment, with A Pass, a popular artist known for his dancehall hits, as the main act. The 2026 I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series is supported by Johnnie Walker, Victoria Motors, GA Insurance, RwandAir, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, Kampala Serena Hotel, Fenon Events, Goldman’s Luxury, NBS Sport, Case Hospital, and Time Cop Security.
