Mucunguzi tops the Entebbe MTN Quartely Tees tournament

Mucunguzi, who plays off a handicap of 17, beat over 200 golfers to the top prize after registering his second-best score of the season, following the 69 net he scored in the opening event of the season in January.

Richard Mucunguzi and Hellen Kisinde returned 65 and 67 nett, respectively, to win the June MTN Quarterly Tees Tournament at Entebbe Club on Saturday.


Mucunguzi, who plays off a handicap of 17, beat over 200 golfers to the top prize after registering his second-best score of the season, following the 69 net he scored in the opening event of the season in January.

 

On her part, returning Kisinde (HC 36) was only playing in her second monthly event of the year but edged out Charity Tushabomwe (HC 27) for the top prize by a stroke, though both golfers remain behind in the order of merit standings in both divisions. 


The other podium finishes were registered by Saidi Kirarira (70nett) and Tony Kisadha in the men's Group A, while Ronald Pulle (67) and Philemon Akatuhurira (70) were the best in Group B, as Daniel Kalungi and Herbert Kamuntu topped Group C.

Anne Abeja registered her third-best score of the season (70nett) as she came to the top of the ladies' Group A, ahead of Jovia Tugume, who returned 75. Earlier, in the professional's event, Abbey Bagalana hit a hole-in-one on hole 12 in the second round of the professionals' event, won by Palm Valley Golf and Country Club's Abraham Ainamani, who walked away with the biggest share of the sh15m prize money (sh3m).
