Debutants Makerere University Business School (MUBS) were crowned champions of this year's Blind Football Championship held at Makerere University.

MUBS defeated Strong Spirits 1–0 in the men's final, while their women's team beat KYUVISA Ladies 1–0 on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time.

MUBS began their campaign with a 2–0 victory over Gulu Cyclones in Group A before registering another 2–0 win against Red Angels. They concluded the group stage with a 0–0 draw against KYUVISA Stars, who topped the group with seven points.

The debutants maintained their impressive run in the semifinals, where they thrashed Ancilla–Mukono 3–0 to book their place in the final.

Gulu Cyclones finished third after edging KYUVISA Stars 1–0 in the third-place playoff.

MUBS forward Jimmy Innocent was the tournament's top scorer with eight goals, accounting for all of his team's goals throughout the championship.

This year's edition attracted 10 teams, eight men's and two women's sides.

Muzafaru Jjagwe, the founder of blind football in Uganda, attributed the increased competitiveness to the introduction of prize money. Winners received Shs500,000, while the first and second runners-up earned Shs300,000 and Shs200,000, respectively.

"The prize money not only attracted more teams but also improved the level of competition," Jjagwe said.

He added that the championship also served as a talent identification exercise for players who could represent Uganda at the IBSA Africa Blind Football Championship scheduled for November in Cairo, Egypt.
