Mbalangu vows to make Lugogo a fortress as NEC FC tops the table

NEC FC head coach Hussein Mbalangu has issued a firm warning to teams visiting the Philip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, declaring that his team is determined to make it a fortress and win all their home games this season.
“Our strong start to the season is a result of hard work and team spirit,” Mbalangu stated. “We have also made a commitment to go unbeaten at home this season. We want our home to be a slaughtering place where no team escapes. Every opponent must be slaughtered at Lugogo, including our landlords KCCA; they will face a tough battle here,” he warned.

Their record now includes five wins and one defeat, which came away to Express FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. In the encounter with Wakiso Giants, played under the floodlights, experienced midfielder Muzamir Mutyaba and James Jarieko scored the goals that secured the vital three points.
This match was challenging for NEC, as Wakiso Giants, coached by former Uganda Cranes stars Steven Bengo and Tony Mawejje, proved to be stubborn opponents. NEC’s defense and goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo held firm to keep a clean to keep a clean sheet.
Meanwhile, KCCA also managed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mbale Heroes at the Mbale Municipal Stadium, with Bright Anukani’s first-half goal securing the precious points for Abdallah Mubiru's side.
This result maintained KCCA's unbeaten run and moved them into second place with 14 points, just one point behind NEC.
With only two points separating the top three teams, NEC, KCCA, and Vipers.
The competition remains fierce in the league standings as NEC leads with 15 points, followed closely by KCCA with 14, while Vipers SC sits in third place with 13 points.
The next round of matches will be played on Tuesday next week.
