Motocross racers will have to wait for some time to return to the track and gauge whether they have improved on their speeds or they need to step up their training.

This is after the management of the Motorcycling Association (MAU) called off the fourth Challenge meant to be held on Sunday, June 20, in Busiika, Luwero district.

The MAU secretary Julius Bukenya cited the Covid-19 inter-district cross border lockdown for 42 days announced by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the reason for cancelling the event.

“Some of the racers were going to find it hard to reach Busiika for the event because they come from different districts, so we decided to cancel it and wait for the next decision from the president,” Bukenya.

Bukenya said the challenges are meant to keep their racers fit and ready for the national assignment in the FIM Africa MXON due on August 6-8 at the Victoria Raceway track in Entebbe if allowed to participate.

Six countries including Kenya, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, and defending champion South Africa are expected to participate in the annual event that was meant to be held last year but was postponed due to Coronavirus Pandemic.
