The female national team coach Colin McSharar says Uganda missing out on the inaugural World Lacrosse Women Championships is a big blow to the players.

“We’re heartbroken to not be able to compete in the women’s championship after years of efforts to make it to this stage. Both I and my staff have done everything we could over the past 12 months to make sure that we gave the players the best opportunity to showcase their passion for lacrosse. We did it the right way; we just had a few things not go our way recently," stated McSharar.

"The parents and schools that have been rendering lots of support to the girls are equally demoralised since a lot of financial and moral support was injected, but the efforts were all in vain since the two years of preparation yielded no fruit."

The team failed to travel due to failure to obtain US visas. However, an effort was made to help the team obtain the visas early enough.

The US embassy in Uganda expelled the lacrosse team more than two times and there was suspicion that one of the members on the team allegedly had a fake bank statement, an act that might have cost the team.

Romina Wilke Köhler, one of the parents of a player on the team revealed that this is going to affect the players.

“The worst thing is that most parents and schools will now not allow these ladies to continue playing. Many of them never believed in women in sports and they now have evidence it does not work," he said.

“Yet this would have been a chance for them to change their life and history,” noted Romina.

Christine Ijawet, one of the players on the team, tearfully revealed how heartbroken she was

“I dedicated my time to the team for the last two years and I am heartbroken that we couldn’t go to Towson but am still hopeful we make it next time,” Ijawet said.

Efforts to raise Kenneth Kasule the general secretary of the Uganda Lacrosse Association were futile since his phone numbers were off.
