Labira Girls SS crowned Kapelebyong athletics champions

Labira Girls Secondary School in Obalanga town council has emerged overall champion of this year’s district athletics competition in Kapelebyong district.

The school topped the standings with 405 points, ahead of Obalanga Comprehensive Secondary School, which came second with 258 points. Host school Akoromit Seed Secondary School finished third with 109 points.

Announcing the results, chairperson of the registry Stella Acham congratulated the participating schools for their performance.

Labira Girls SS also won trophies for overall best school, best boys’ team and best girls’ team.

The vice chairperson of the Kapelebyong Secondary Schools Sports Association, John Oluka, said outstanding athletes will represent the district at the regional championships in Kumi district from June 24 to 28.

Meanwhile, the inspector of schools in Kapelebyong, Romano Okare Engulu, urged parents to support sports development and pledged to promote dance sports in schools across the district.

Last year, Kapelebyong district did not participate in athletics competitions due to circumstances beyond its control.
