Kitara FC continues to silence those still doubting their Uganda Premier League title credentials by picking up vital wins against top sides that were expected to hand them stiff challenges in their quest for the league title.

The grandsons of Omukama Kabalega beat 10-man URA 3-0 on Thursday at Masindi Stadium to extend their lead at the top of the table to four points clear of second-placed BUL FC on 39 points.

Joint-league top scorer Denis Omedi with 11 goals so far, opened the scoring in the eighth minute, Jude Ssemugabi added the second goal in the 37th minute and Living Kabon who assisted Omedi for the opener also got himself on the score sheet in the 92rd minute against his former side.

URA enjoyed the biggest percentage of possession in this match compared to Kitara but failed to convert it into goals and the Royals (Kitara) who were smart enough, caught the tax men (URA) on the break to score two of their goals.

URA coach David Obua had no kind words for the match officials at full-time led by centre referee Henry Musisi whom he accused of poor officiation.

Obua challenged the two goals by Omedi and Ssemugabi claiming that they should not have counted because the scorers were in offside positions.

He also disagreed with forward Ivan Ahimbisibwe's straight red card shortly after coming on as a substitute.

The former UPDF man jumped to win the ball and the referee judged him to have elbowed Paddy Muhumuza and straight away reached out to his pockets and showed him red.

"Sometimes games are won by mistakes officials make, these guys wear shades that are supposed to be judicial on the pitch but end up doing the totally the opposite. They are messing up Ugandan football, please always make the right decisions. Apart from the excellent third goal, the other two were questionable," a disgusted Obua remarked after the game.

On the other hand, Brian Ssenyondo, the head coach of Kitara said that they did good homework on Obua's playing style which is possessing the ball but without purpose, and decided to catch them on the break.

"We knew that they like to possess the ball and we let them have it but the way they do it is not positive because they do it in their half which you call Obua ball. We forced them to play long balls and we also played behind their defenders. We did so much homework on them and it has worked because the three points have stayed here with us,"  said Ssenyondo.

At the FUFA Technical Centre Njeru, relegation-threatened Busoga United shared spoils in a 2-2 draw with Soltilo Bright Stars.

On Friday, BUL in second place will return to action against fifth-placed SC Villa at Njeru hoping to reduce the gap back to one point behind Kitara.

At St Mary's Stadium Kitende,  defending champions Vipers in fourth place will entertain bitter rivals KCCA under the floodlights.
