Kitara FC players have been promised a sh400m bonus if they beat Egyptian giants Al Ahly and qualify for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Club president Deo Kasozi said the reward was intended to motivate the players ahead of what he described as the biggest game in the club’s history.
“We have set aside sh400 million if the team can beat Al Ahly and qualify for the group stages,” Kasozi said.
“We know it is going to be a tough task, but as management we want to motivate them and push them against one of the giants of African football.”
Kitara will host Al Ahly at Hoima City Stadium on October 17, with the match scheduled to kick off at 4:00 pm.
“The team is preparing well, on the pitch and off it. This is the biggest game in the history of the club, and we call upon Ugandans to rally behind us and travel to Hoima when we face Al Ahly,” Kasozi said.
Kitara will look to use home support to secure an advantage before the return leg in Egypt as they target qualification for the group stage.
Tickets for the match are already on sale, with ordinary tickets costing sh20,000 and VIP tickets Sh100,000.
Only 750 VIP tickets are available, and they will come with special treatment, including a parking sticker.
Kasozi said there would be no early-bird or physical tickets for the match. However, fans who have difficulty buying tickets online will receive assistance at selected points around Hoima City.
Kitara reached the second preliminary round after beating Somalia’s Mogadishu City Club 4-1 on aggregate, with both matches played in Hoima.
The Royals qualified for the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup after winning the Uganda Cup, beating SC Villa 2-1 in the final.
Kitara must now overcome Al Ahly to reach the group stage. The return leg in Egypt is expected to be played between October 23 and 25.
