Jacob Kiplimo claimed a comfortable victory on his debut in the New York Half Marathon, leading a Ugandan one-two with Joshua Cheptegei, who came home 38 seconds after the new champion.

Kiplimo has no equal in the half marathon and he proved it once again on his maiden appearance in the Big Apple.

The reigning World Half Marathon champion and half marathon world record holder posted a dominant time of 1:01.31 and had to wait for ages to see his compatriot cross the line, and to his delight, Cheptegei did so in the next best position.

Kiplimo, who claimed the World Cross Country title last month, stretched his winning streak to five races, his latest victory coming with a cash prize of $20,000.

Cheptegei received $10,000 for his troubles.
