Kinyara Golf Open returns bigger than ever with over 150 golfers

This year's edition, which has garnered significant support from numerous insurance companies acting as sponsors, boasts a collective contribution of sh92 million.

Professional golfer Grace Kasango and amateur golfer Joseph Kasozi are anticipated to defend their championships at the upcoming 27th  Kinyara Golf Open.

 

The tournament is scheduled to take place on the 9-hole course in Masindi from November 13th to 15th.

 

This year's edition, which has garnered significant support from numerous insurance companies acting as sponsors, boasts a collective contribution of sh92 million.


The event was officially launched on Thursday at the Uganda Golf Club. During the press conference, Moses Enzama, the captain of Kinyara Golf Club, affirmed that all arrangements are in place for the progressively expanding annual tournament.

He outlined that the professional golfers will commence the competition on November 13th with a 36-hole challenge, culminating in an 18-hole contest on Friday, November 15th, vying for the sh10mprize. These will play alongside the top amateurs (handicap 0-5) in both genders, who also have a combined sh7m to play for. 

An enticing hole-in-one prize of 500kgs of sugar is the other attraction for the tournament that is going to be contested in various categories by over 150 golfers ranging from the professionals, gross amateurs, seniors, and the subsidiary.


“The tournament has been made possible by the immense support we have received from our partners that have supported the event generously for over a decade, and they continue to improve their packages every year, so we promise that this is going to be bigger and better than before,” Enzama said.


Kinyara Sugar public relations officer Francis Mugerwa, who also attended the event alongside LIASON’s Sarah Siryowe, MUA’s Michael Zaake, Old Mutual’s John Mary Tugume, Goldstar’s Enock Mudadi, Sanlam Allianz’s Juma Tumwebaze, and ICEA Lion’s Moses Mugalu said, “We support this tournament as one of the ways of supporting this tournament because we also get a lot of support from the community. So, this is one way of giving back but on the other hand promoting talent and sports, and we have consistently done it and we are pleased to note that this year’s edition is going to be big and better and we welcome everyone in Masindi.”

Mudadi expressed his delight in being associated with the tournament, noting its support for aspiring future golfers. Mugalu commented that the event aligns with sustainability objectives by promoting healthy lifestyles, thereby contributing to a more robust future. Zaake affirmed their dedication to supporting an initiative that champions healthy living.

 

Tugume added that their sponsorship underscores their commitment to enhancing sportsmanship, wellness, and community engagement, all of which are core values they cherish and that reflect their principles.


Mudadi said it was a pleasure to be associated with the tournament because it also supports those aspiring to be golfers in the future.
