Germany-based Ugandan boxer Muzamir 'The Real King Kong' Kakande has set his sights on bigger international honours after clinching the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) European super welterweight title.

Kakande, now a resident of Munich in Germany who boxes under London-based gym Peacock, revealed this moments after his devastating sixth-round knockout of Mozambique's undefeated former Olympian Tiago Osorio Muxanga that earned him the IBO title.

The two clashed at the Harrow Leisure Centre in London, UK, in the wee hours of Monday morning, October 26.

His victory not only earned him a prestigious regional title but also strengthened his ambitions of breaking into the upper echelons of professional boxing and challenging for bigger honours.

For Kakande, the triumph was particularly satisfying, having avenged his fellow namesake, Muzamir Ssemuddu, who suffered a heavy loss to Muxanga at the 2023 Africa Boxing Championship in Yaounde, Cameroon.

The former national team (the Bombers), Kalinabiri Boxing Club and UPDF hard puncher dominated the proceedings from the opening bell, using his lethal jab and accurate combinations to dictate the pace of the contest.

From the third round, The Real King Kong, who now boasts a 12-1-1 ring record with 8 knockouts, asserted his superiority in punching accuracy and ring control, keeping Muxanga under pressure before taking charge of the scheduled 12-round contest.

The 2017 Brazzaville Africa Boxing Championship gold medallist then turned up the heat in the fifth round, flooring Muxanga twice before leaving the former Olympian wobbling as he struggled to contain the assault.

Then came the sixth round, in which Kakande unleashed his renowned atomic right overhand punch that caught the Mozambican on the left side of his chin, sending him crashing into the ropes before bout referee Darren Sarginson of England stepped in to protect Muxanga from further damage.

By this time, Kakande was celebrating his emphatic and deserved knockout victory that earned him the IBO European super welterweight crown.

"Welcome to the jungle. The den of the Real King Kong. What else can I say than thanking you, the Almighty Allah? This win is a sweet one. Much shout-out to my management team at Peacock Gym, Boxwerk Gym in Germany, my manager Leon Sudbury, my coaches and fans here in London, Germany and back home in Uganda," Kakande noted.

Kakande's latest triumph marks another significant milestone in a career that has steadily gathered momentum since his days with the Bombers.

His gold medal at the 2017 Africa Boxing Championship in Congo Brazzaville established him as one of Uganda's finest boxers before he moved to Germany and later transitioned to the paid ranks.

Victory over Muxanga has not only pushed his global ranking into the top 50 but also placed him as a contender for major belts like the WBC silver super welterweight title and other prestigious belts under the WBA, IBF and WBO.
