Entebbe UPPC FC produced a strong second-half performance to recover from a goal down and defeat newcomers Ntugasaze FC 3-1 in Thursday’s Uganda Premier League encounter played at Kira Road Police Arena in Kamwokya.

Forward Ambrose Kigozi was the star of the show, scoring twice to turn the game around and also played a key role in goalkeeper Denis Otim’s goal for UPPC as the Entebbe based side secured their fifth victory of the 2026/27 league campaign.

The win lifted the Printers to fourth place with 19 points from 10 matches, four points behind leaders BUL FC, who have a game in hand having played nine matches.

Ntugasaze took a surprise lead in the 26th minute through Kennedy Muserero, who finished off Jerome Otim’s cross after it had evaded the UPPC defence to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage at the break.

It was Muserero’s second consecutive league goal after also scoring in Ntugasaze’s 1-1 draw against Express FC in their previous outing also played at Kira Road Arena.

However, UPPC, coached by experienced tactician Abdallah Mubiru, returned from the break with renewed determination and found their equaliser in the 55th minute.

Julius Poloto delivered a teasing cross into the Ntugasaze penalty area, which Kigozi met with an unchallenged header to level matters.

Kigozi played a key role in UPPC’s second goal in the 75th minute after capitalising on a defensive mix-up between Ntugasaze defender Shafick Matovu and goalkeeper Richard Afoyo which allowed him to shield a long kick from goalkeeper to end up in the back of the net giving his side the lead.

UPPC then sealed the victory with a third goal after another defensive error. Afoyo failed to deal with a shot from Gift Odongo, punching it into Kigozi’s path, and the forward made no mistake in converting the rebound to complete a memorable brace and also seal three points for his side.

For the Brewers, the defeat was their seventh in nine league matches, having managed just one victory and one draw.

The league debutants remain 16th on the 18-team table with only four points from nine matches.
