The three Uganda representatives at this year’s edition of the International Schools Sports Federation (ISF) World Schools football championship due in Morocco have been drawn against tricky opponents after the championship draws were conducted on Thursday.

The championship, an initiative of ISF to keep the talent identification and development objective alive, starts July 22 to 31 in Rabbat, Morocco.

In the boys’ category, FEASSSA champions Kibuli SS have been drawn in Group E against a team from the 2022 FIFA World Cup hosts Qatar, China, and Africa compatriots Ivory Coast.

Amus which boasts a 4th finish at this year’s edition of the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) national boys football championship, has been pitted against giants France, Chile, and Netherlands in group A.

In the girls’ category, FEASSSA champions St Noa girls will face off against Chile, England, and hosts Morocco opposition.

All three Uganda teams will be making their debut at this level of international exposure but reactions from the team officials, indicate a determined Uganda ahead of the challenge.

“We welcome the draws with a feeling that we can make it to the expectation of Ugandans. They are not easy teams, especially Ivory Coast, but we shall do our best. We know we are going to this high level for the first time but we have prepared our team well and we shall do our best,” Said Kibuli SS games teacher Erias Kasujja.

The draws conducted pitted 32 teams of both boys and girls in 8 pools of 4 teams each and the best two teams in each group will qualify for the knockout stage before the quarter-finals, semis, and finals.
