League champions KCCA will renew their rivalry with NIC Netball Club as they seek to defend their Netball Super League title in a highly anticipated clash this Saturday.

The two sides produced a closely contested battle last season. KCCA edged NIC 40-39 in the opening round before NIC bounced back to win the return fixture.

"We thought we were playing against Prisons, only to learn two days before the game that the fixture had changed. You cannot train without a purpose. The fixture should be designed for the whole year, and missed games should only be rescheduled. What was followed when fixing us with NIC? This tendency of changing matches all the time is unprofessional," Mugerwa said.

Despite the changes, Mugerwa believes his players are ready for the challenge and remain focused on retaining the title.

"Our goal is to defend our title. We are going to do all it takes in this game to emerge victorious," he said.

KCCA's preparations have also been complicated by a demanding schedule. The champions are expected to face Posta in the morning before taking on NIC later in the evening.

Mugerwa questioned the decision to schedule two league matches for the same team on one day, arguing that it creates an unfair physical burden.

"Playing two league matches is very unprofessional. One team is tired while the other has not played a match. Each team should play one match per day. Let matches also be fixed on weekdays," he said.

On the other side, NIC head coach Rashid Mubiru is confident his side can reclaim bragging rights against the champions.

Mubiru will draw confidence from NIC's recent East African success and the team's preparations ahead of the encounter.

"We have had a number of training sessions, and I believe my team is ready. Last time we lost against KCCA in the first round, but this time we are giving them no chances," Mubiru said.

The KCCA-NIC clash is expected to provide another chapter in one of the league's most competitive rivalries, with both teams keen to make an early statement in the title race.

In other matches, UgX Luweero will face Posta, while Busia takes on UCU before later meeting Dynamite.
