The KCB Kampala Old Boys Rugby Football Club (KOBs RFC) has received a significant boost ahead of their Nile Special Rugby Premier League clash against the Stanbic Black Pirates, with Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) increasing their sponsorship to sh195 million for the 2025 season.
This marks a sh100 million increase from last year’s sh95 million package. The renewed partnership, announced ahead of the highly anticipated match on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Legends Rugby Ground, underscores KCB’s commitment to supporting Ugandan rugby.
The sponsorship includes a full home and away kit, symbolizing the strength, unity, and determination of the team as they aim for success in the 2025 season, which kicked off on January 11. Club Chairman Professor Stone Luggya expressed gratitude for the partnership, emphasizing its significance for the club’s ambitions.
“As KOBs, we are determined to continue our pursuit of titles. The new kit will serve as a powerful reminder of the partnership that drives our success,” Luggya said.

“This kit is more than just a uniform—it represents our team’s spirit, resilience, and the growing confidence KCB Bank Uganda has in KOBs RFC. After just one year of partnership, we are grateful for their unwavering support and belief in our vision for the future of the club.”
Of the sh195 million sponsorship, sh50 million will be allocated to the kit, with the remainder supporting the club’s administrative costs.
Diana Komukama, Head of Marketing and Communications at KCB Bank Uganda, highlighted the bank’s enthusiasm for promoting sports development in Uganda. “Our partnership with KOBs reflects our ongoing dedication to fostering sports, which are deeply enjoyed by the youth,” Komukama said. “We are proud to see our brand represented on the team’s new kit and look forward to celebrating their successes throughout the upcoming season.” She concluded by wishing KOBs success in their upcoming match against the Pirates, a game dubbed the “clash of banks.”
With renewed financial support and a strengthened partnership, KOBs RFC is poised to make a strong impact in the 2025 season as they aim to build on their legacy and compete for top honors.
