Kawempe Muslim Ladies drawn in Group B of 2026 CAF CECAFA qualifiers

Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC have been drawn in Group B of the 2026 CAF Women's Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers.

The Valley Warriors will face Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) and Djibouti's FC UJECO in the regional tournament, which will be held in Kigali, Rwanda, from August 21 to 31.

The official draw was conducted on Thursday at the Amahoro Stadium Conference Hall in Kigali by CECAFA Head of Marketing and Communication Andrew Jackson Oryada, assisted by former Rwanda international Gloria Sofia Nibagwire.

Kawempe qualified for the regional championship after winning the 2025/26 FUFA Women Super League title in May.

They sealed the championship with a 3-1 victory over Olila High School at Valley Grounds, while title rivals She Corporate were held to a goalless draw by She Maroons.

The Ugandan champions face a difficult task against Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, one of the region's most successful women's clubs. The Ethiopian side has reached two CECAFA finals and won the regional title in 2024.

Hosts Rayon Sports WFC headline Group A alongside South Sudan's Yei Joint Stars FC, Zanzibar's Mafunzo Queens FC and Eritrea's Denden Women FC.

Former zonal champions Simba Queens of Tanzania were placed in Group C with Kenya Police Bullets and Burundi's Top Girls Academy.

The qualifiers will feature 10 teams, with matches to be played at Kigali Pele Stadium and the FERWAFA Technical Centre.

Under the tournament format, the top two teams from Group A and the winners of Groups B and C will progress to the semifinals.

The winners of Group B will face the runners-up from Group A, while the winners of Group A will take on the winners of Group C.

The tournament champion will represent the CECAFA region at the 2026 CAF Women's Champions League.

Group B: CBE FC, Kawempe Muslim Ladies, FC Ujeco

Group C: Simba Queens, Kenya Police Bullets FC, Top Girls Academy FC
