Katikamu SDA bank on experience as they target FEASSA Games

Katikamu Seventh-Day Adventist Secondary School has shifted its focus to the 2026 Federation of East Africa Secondary School Sports Association (FEASSA) Games in Morogoro, Tanzania, after an impressive third-place finish at the National Secondary Schools Games in Gulu.

The Luweero-based side is putting the final touches on its preparations ahead of the regional championship scheduled for August 12-23 in Morogoro.

The tournament will mark Katikamu's third appearance at the East African Games in four years, having previously competed in Arusha (2022) and Kakamega (2025).

Although the school finished eighth overall in Kakamega last year, it emerged as the best-performing Ugandan side, a performance the team hopes to build on this year.

Head coach Muhammad Nepo, an old student of Katikamu SDA, believes his youthful squad has what it takes to improve on last year's performance.

"Last year's pain is this year's lesson. Our target in 2026 is to get out of the group stage," Nepo said.

"Many people are calling us the youngest team at the championship, but we are not young in the sport. We have experienced players like Mariam Muhammad, Agolla Catherine, and Mary Nabatanzi, who featured in the national league in 2025 and also represented the Uganda U20 team in Morocco. They understand what it takes to compete at the highest level and are carrying the Kati Kamu flag to the top."

The national bronze medalists head to Morogoro carrying confidence, experience, and the ambition to write another chapter in the school's growing East African sports story.
