The Kampala Queens, champions of the Finance Trust FUFA Women Super League, headed to Juba, South Sudan, on Thursday morning, June 5, for a friendly match against Yei Joint Stars. The game is set for Sunday, June 8, at the Juba National Stadium.

Nineteen players made the trip, led by team captain Shamirah Nalugya, who was last season’s Most Valuable Player.

Zainah Nandede, named MTN FUFA Female Player of the Year in 2024, and goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro, recognized as Goalkeeper of the Season, are also part of the squad.

This won’t be the first matchup between the two teams. In the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers, the Kampala Queens defeated Yei Joint Stars 3-0, thanks to a hat-trick from star striker Fazila Ikwaput. That game took place at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

The Kampala Queens will be in Juba for three days, from June 6 to 8, as they continue to prepare for upcoming regional and continental competitions.
