Germany-based Ugandan boxer Muzamir ‘The Real King Kong’ Kakande delivered a career-defining performance in Essex, London, knocking out Britain’s Kevin Reavell in the ninth round to capture the British Commonwealth Silver Super Welterweight title, his first major professional accolade.

Fighting inside a packed Brentwood Centre Arena, Kakande showcased grit, tactical brilliance, and relentless aggression to outclass the resilient Reavell.

The Essex-born fighter held on until the eighth round, but Kakande’s sharp jab and thunderous right hook sent him crashing to the canvas.

Renowned referee Mark Bates, who officiated the Chris Eubank Jr vs. Conor Benn blockbuster earlier this year, stepped in to halt the bout and prevent further damage.

“This is surreal. Allah never forgets his own. From the ghettos of Bwaise to Commonwealth champion, this is just the beginning,” Kakande told Vision Sport. “Welcome to the real King Kong jungle, baby. Much respect to my teams at Peacock Gym and Boxwerk, my coaches, my opponent, and especially the fans back home in Uganda. Big things are coming.”

Kakande’s victory marks his seventh knockout in 13 professional fights, bringing his record to 13 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw. He remains Uganda’s last continental gold medalist, having won the welterweight title at the 2017 Africa Boxing Championships in Brazzaville, Congo.

Segawa Rules in WBC Featherweight Eliminator

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, Maryland-based Ugandan boxer Sulaiman ‘The Ruler’ Segawa made light work of Mexico’s Bryan Acosta, securing a seventh-round knockout in a WBC featherweight elimination bout.

Returning to the ring after a controversial split-decision loss to American Bruce ‘Shu Shu’ Carrington, Segawa was in complete control from the opening bell. True to his moniker, he ruled every round before finishing the fight in emphatic fashion.

“Glad to be back to my best. There’s still so much more ahead. I’m planning to finish the year strong,” Segawa said, crediting his management team at Urban Boxing.

With a professional record of 24 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw, and 18 knockouts, Segawa continues to shine as one of Uganda’s most promising global boxing prospects.

Together, Kakande and Segawa’s weekend triumphs have not only elevated their individual careers but also reaffirmed Uganda’s growing presence on the international boxing stage.
