Uganda’s rising boxing star Owen ‘Matrix’ Kibira continued his dominant ascent in the professional ranks with a fourth consecutive knockout, this time dispatching Tanzania’s Kelvin Musanja in emphatic fashion.
The bout, held in the early hours of Monday, November 2, at the packed Adlife Red Room Plaza in Nairobi, Kenya, was part of a high-energy event dubbed “The Evolution of Boxing.”
Kibira wasted no time, sending Musanja crashing into the ropes in the fourth round and sealing another statement win.
His latest victory marks his fourth career knockout, solidifying his reputation as one of the division’s most dangerous contenders and positioning him for future regional and continental title fights.
“I’m grateful for this victory. What more could I ask for than winning away from home and knocking out a tough opponent like Musanja?” Kibira said after the fight. He added, “I want to thank my management team, 12 Sports Rounds, without them, I’m nothing. Our focus now is to secure the WBC Africa title, and then we’ll evaluate our next move.”
According to BoxRec, the world’s leading boxing ranking platform, Kibira has climbed to second among Uganda’s top super welterweights, trailing only Muzamir “The Real King Kong” Kakande. He is currently ranked 17th on the continent and 120th globally.
With an unblemished record of 5 wins, 0 losses, and 0 draws—all by knockout, Kibira is quickly emerging as one of Uganda’s most promising talents on the international boxing scene.
Stephen Sembuya, CEO of 12 Sports Rounds, shared his vision for Kibira’s future: “Our goal is to elevate Kibira and all our signed fighters to the global stage. We’re targeting markets in the USA and UK. In Kibira, we see not just Uganda’s most gifted boxer, but a fearless dream chaser.”
