Kabasweka claims her second Namulonge Ladies Open title
Kabasweka, who also won the same event two years ago, outperformed her closest competitor, Meron Kyomugisha, by 15 strokes, marking her fifth championship of the season.

Peace Kabasweka delivered an impressive performance, scoring an overall ten-over 217 to secure her second Namulonge Ladies Open title at the Mary Louise Simkins Memorial Golf Club in Namulonge on Saturday.
Kabasweka, who also won the same event two years ago, outperformed her closest competitor, Meron Kyomugisha, by 15 strokes, marking her fifth championship of the season.
This year, the golfer from Tooro Club has also claimed victories in the Kabalaza and the Pearl of Africa Golf Series, the Presidents Cup, and the Captains Bell tournaments, showcasing her remarkable skills as she continues her ascendency in the amateur ranks.
Kyomugisha won the inaugural event in 2022.
The World Amateur Golf Ranking event had Janet Kabayonga finishing third overall, while Joyce Kisembo, Gloria Mbaguta, and Harriet Kitaka tied in fourth after they each carded a total of 237 after the three rounds.

“It is never easy winning in Namulonge; it is always tough. You need to swing well on this course, and I’m glad I did,” Kabasweka, who notched six birdies overall, including four in the last round, said.
“This victory was easier than the previous one on this course because my swing was on. But I have to continue working hard so that I can keep winning as many tournaments as I can,” she stated.
ULGU president Rita Akot Apell, who was the guest of honour said their mandate remains clear: “To grow women’s participation in the game across all the regions in Uganda.”
The tournament attracted golfers from all the courses in the country, including Jinja, Kilembe, Tooro, UGC, Entebbe, Kabale, and Mbarara clubs.
