Distance runner Jacob Kiplimo has been voted the Nile Special/USPA Sports Personality of the Month of March after his heroics at the New York City Half Marathon.
He won the race in a time of 1:01:31.
To win the award, Kiplimo collected 320 votes beating the rally crew of Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba. The pair came second at the 2023 Equator Rally in Kenya.
Powerlifter Roy Mubiru was commended for winning gold in the Arnold Classic powerlifting festival early last month in the USA.
Latib Muwonge was another who got a commendation for winning the Africa Boxing Union title.

The national table tennis ladies’ team that won silver, and the men’s side, which settled for bronze at the Eastern Africa Regional Table Tennis Senior Championship, were also commended.
The Supportive/Assist Award was won by Uganda Cranes forward Rogers Mato for his goal against Tanzania in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers. The goal brightened Uganda's dwindling chances of qualifying for the tournament.
Toyota Buffalos scrumhalf Arron Tukei won the Promising Talent Award, one of the three new awards introduced by USPA this year.
For the Sporting Award, the USPA executive voted Lameck Lily for her contribution to the growth and development of bodybuilding in Uganda.
At the monthly meeting held at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, USPA president Al Sayed Moses Lubega announced that the Nile Special/USPA Gala for 2021 will be held on May 27.
