Music duo Kataleya and Kandle don’t have a new song out, neither are they warming up for a concert. They are going through a phase that a number of artistes/music groups have gone through, both local and international. The common denominator being friction with management.

In as much as their management has stayed a mile away from the smoke emerging from their camp, a number of media personalities have managed to fill in the gaps using the hush tones with which they penetrated the thick walls of ‘no comment.’

Media personality Calvin The Entertainer on Monday, January 22, 2024 lifted the veil to acquaint his followers with information from what he gathered from the camp.

“Some facts: Kataleya and Kandle; 1.The two girls have a 10-year running contract with Theron Music, who have invested millions in the singing duo and are yet to make three years. 2.They were suspended according to company policy due to indiscipline BUT the group is Not disbanded. 3.Well calculated falsehoods are being shared in media intended to arm twist the label to let them off the contract, a thing the company is not about to do,” he shared online.

Media personality and singer Crysto Panda, while on his radio show on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 explained that he got access to information from the management detailing the ongoing circus.

“The management got the girls an apartment and they started inviting (unwanted guests). Even the cameras (CCTV) that were set up were being covered. And there are some musicians that wanted to take on their management. They are trying to sabotage the boss who is very disappointed. And my source is trusted,” said Panda.

Similar incidents have in the past few years consigned a number of once illustrious careers into the archives while others hang on life support, and no effort to breathe life into them were ever successful.

Singer Irene Ntale, who still very much does music, dominated media plays and streams, and bookings while still under Swangz Avenue.

Rumours of her exit started in earnest in 2016 until 2017 when it matured into a fact. She exited the label with only her name. Because it is her name anyway, but her social accounts didn’t make it through the exit. Up to now, a section of her avid fans believe she would still be churning out hits if she managed the tide with them in mind.

MC Kats is yet to recover from managing Fille, claiming for years, all he did was invest his salary in the singer’s career, but got nothing else in return, except a baby of course.

They split in 2018 but reconciled in 2019, with Kats taking back his role as promoter and manager. However, the second half failed to match the first half. You hardly hear the name Fille anywhere.

Dre Cali got turned into an award-winning singer in just a year under Ykee Benda’s Mpaka Records. However, he fled the music camp in early 2022 and also left the country for Canada, forcing Benda to claim he owned the name Dre Cali and asked him to drop it. When was the last time you heard a song like Ebisooka N’ebisembayo from him?

Over a decade ago, Bebe Cool, at the height of his tension with Radio and Weasel, got together two singers forming the Eighton and Rain duo. Their job description was allegedly to musically confront the Zuena hitmakers. However, they shortly fell out with the Gagamel boss even after recording Mata with Zuena herself. The group disbanded and last we checked, one was selling second hand merchandise at Owino Market.
